New Surgery Tower Addition and Renovation

Mercer Health System

Expansion Positively Impacts the Community

Mercer Health saw their surgical services increase 25% over the past two years and realized a need for an expanded surgery department. DesignGroup worked closely with the hospital to determine the best program to fit their needs in the 70,000 SF three-story addition to the original 1950’s hospital. All of the surgery services and support functions are located on the third floor and include four new OR’s, one of which is reserved for future robotic installation.

The first floor includes a large multi-story atrium space that is filled with an abundance of natural light. It is a very inviting space where patients, staff, and visitors can relax or find a bite to eat. There is a coffee shop located next to this space as well as the cafeteria. The first floor also includes an OP clinic as well as administration offices.

On the second floor, there are 18 private patient rooms. Four of these beds are also ICU capable and they have one Isolation Room. Previously the hospital did not have any private patients rooms so this was a big shift for them. All new patient rooms also include a window with an exterior view.
