A New and Improved Dental Simulation Space

LEED Green Certified by The USGBS
Built in pieces in 1950, 1969, 1966 and 1972 and housing the College of Dentistry, established in 1980. Postle Hall is home to the fourth-largest public dental school in the country with 10 academic divisions.
The four-story eastern part of the building has been demolished, and 150,000 square feet of new space has replaced it. The new spot will have dental clinic spaces, teaching space, radiology, pediatrics and support space. Current occupants and functions from Postle Hall east will be relocated to other existing buildings during construction, followed by a renovation to this swing space. The project also includes the renovation to the western wing of Postle Hall once program from this area is relocated into the new Building. Existing College of Dentistry programs in Postle Hall west will remain operational with public access during all construction activities.

The new and improved facility is designed to allow for a greater clinical experience for the students and the way that they care for patients. The simulation portion of the facility promotes experiential learning and will enhance the students hand eye coordination to better prepare them for their upcoming years in clinical rotations.

In addition, the communal spaces allow for student decompression and collaboration between classes to create a better sense of community within the college. These “in-between” spaces actively foster relationships among the students, faculty and staff to force interactions that will improve learning outcomes, research, and education opportunities.
