Your Essential Duties

Project Management

  • Oversee and manage all aspects of the project management cycle. Establishing project schedule, kick off meetings, maintain the schedule as project progresses and communicating with clients, consultants, and designers as milestones are met or change.
  • Monitor staffing plans and projected workloads to meet expected project timelines, budgets, and profitability.
  • Review and assist staff in setting budgets, goals, and preparing work plans that clearly define their expectations, and take appropriate action as needed.
  • Work with accounting to invoice clients for services and resolve collection of aged accounts and any financial issues with clients.
  • Ensure that Project Architects support and follow design intent and quality goals on all projects.
  • Ensure that documents are reviewed for quality, coordination, and compliance with the requirements of deliverables and client standards in all phases.
  • Review cost estimates and conduct value analysis.
  • Resolve plan review and approval issues with the agencies and client.
  • Assist Practice Group Leader in developing and validating project scope, fee, budget, and scope of services during the marketing and contract development process.
  • Assist in preparing project presentations.  May participate and/or lead client presentations.
  • Assist Practice Group Leader in the preparation and execution of consultant contracts and fee negotiation.

 Business Development/Client Interface

  • Manage an average net project revenue per year of $1M-$2M in new contracts through existing clients\repeat work or new business development activities.
  • Serve as the primary proponent on project pursuits, establish strong relationships with clients, and leading a team that will present to clients.
  • Use market and client intelligence in locating new opportunities, prepositioning, preparing quals/proposals, and interviewing.
  • Work with existing clients to identify upcoming architectural needs that can lead to project opportunities.
  • Ensure that additional services requested by client are billed and invoiced appropriately.
  • Develop a network of current and past clients and industry partners.
  • Maintain strong relationships with existing clients and ensure that they are satisfied with DesignGroup's services.
  • Direct overall verbal and graphic communication of complex project concepts to clients, public agencies, and project team members; serve as the primary point of contact for all client issues.
  • Write RFP’S and negotiate contracts and fees with clients and consultants.
  • Write thought leadership articles for architecture and construction industry.
  • Participates in selected marketing and business development opportunities. Assists in development of fee proposals for marketing proposals.

Project Architect:

  • Technical leader of the team responsible for Schematic Design through Close Out Phases.
  • Lead owner/user meetings, particularly in the Design Development phase, to ensure the requirements of the project have been included in the construction documents and properly coordinated.
  • Responsible for code compliance/approval, technical accuracy, and constructability while accomplishing design intent.
  • Collaborate with the Project Designer, Interior Designer, and/or Planner to develop construction documents that accomplish the design intent.
  • Collaborate with the Specification Writer to ensure that the technical requirements of the project are accomplished.
  • Thorough knowledge of building codes, zoning codes, environmental regulations, ADA requirements, and other pertinent laws and review processes.
  • Code review and coordination with various code officials to ensure approvals.
  • Collaboration/coordination with Engineers, Builders (CM’s, GC’s, Developers, Owner’s Representatives, etc., equipment vendors for proper and timely installation.

Qualifications

  • Experience: Minimum 5-10 years of project management experience in projects of varying types and complexities, with an approximate value of $5-$50 million in construction.
  • Education: Minimum bachelor’s degree in architecture; master’s degree preferred.
  • Expertise: Strong understanding of PMP or PSMJ Project Management, preferred.
  • Licensure: A professional license as a Registered Architect is required
  • Leadership: Thorough knowledge of the entire project delivery process and ability to lead design efforts through all project stages, including leadership with the client, contractors, and internal team.
  • Communication: Collaborative communication style and strong people skills. Ability to represent and participate in interviews and client presentations.
  • Travel: Willing to travel as projects or tasks require.
  • Software Proficiency: Proficiency with BIM, REVIT, Microsoft Word & Excel. Experience using Unanet or similar ERP & CRM tools for reporting and resource planning; preferred.
