Bold Modernization Sets Aesthetic Standard
The new Circulation Desk and Learning Commons renovation takes bold steps toward modernizing both the look of Langsam Library and its delivery of services. The new design realizes new workflow efficiencies and establishes the aesthetic for future projects.
The size and location of the desk facilitates a transfer in the use of space from behind the desk to one that emphasizes interaction with library customers in the public realm. Having eliminated the desk as a barrier separating the private staff area, librarians and support staff are encouraged to assist customers on the library floor, where access to materials and resources is immediate.
New furniture in the Learning Commons brought opportunity to carry the energy of the modernization into the depth of the library. Simple forms that echo the desk in reds and whites extend the design concept with the promise of more updates to come.
Time-tested insight. Forward-thinking design.
