Serving both music and theatrical programs, the 400-seat theater provides the school with a flexible performing arts facility carefully designed to align with the school’s mission, priorities, and needs. A side entrance into the audience chamber creates cross-aisle access to a variety of seating areas, providing the opportunity to scale the occupied audience area to the performance – from more intimate to full house.

The space can be acoustically and visually tuned through hinged wall treatments and a flexible proscenium arch. The all-LED lighting system reduces energy usage and heat load. The large scale of the addition is broken down by terracing building volumes responding to the context of the immediate campus and the surrounding residential neighborhood. A garden entrance plaza, flanked by two existing residential-scaled campus buildings, draws students and visitors to the light-filled theater lobby and gallery space.
