Precedent Setting Healthcare Facility

Located in the core of The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Campus, this building brings all of the Wexner Medical Center’s heart services under one roof. The hospital provides comprehensive and quality healthcare through more than ninety universal rooms. These rooms were designed to be versatile and can be used for intensive care or extended stay patients. Adjacent to such rooms are state-of-the-art magnetic resonance and imaging facilities, operating rooms, and catheterization laboratories, as well as other diagnostic areas. Also included were C-Suite spaces for executive staff.

The 974-car Wexner Medical Center Parking Garage was built on the OSU Wexner Medical Center campus at the same time as the Richard M. Ross Heart Hospital, a leading edge, national prototype model for academic medical centers. This garage provides open parking for 974 cars and 5,000 SF of retail space to house a food service and/or retail merchandise operations. A new ‘Health Sciences Quadrangle’ was developed east of the parking garage, creating a new entrance road to the Medical Campus.

DesignGroup was subsequently engaged to provide a two-story vertical expansion of the patient wing of the hospital. The expansion provides an additional 60 patient care beds and support spaces to the Hospital.
