The current Emergency Department was last renovated 28 years ago. Since then, requirements for patient privacy have been implemented, technology advancements require space for new equipment, and the number of patients, providers and caregivers has also increased; factors all contributing to the need to grow and meet today’s volume of patients using this service. Plans for the new department will help Adena’s Emergency Department serve patients in the fastest, most efficient and caring way.
In addition to adding 16,000 SF to Adena’s emergency department, this project includes improvements to the patient experience with entry and main lobby renovations. New canopies were added at the main entry and EMS entry, along with a new entry drive and main parking lot. A new helipad and EMS specific entry drive were also constructed.
This project was constructed in two phases. Phase 1 included the new ED addition and phase 2 included the renovation of the existing ED and the new main lobby addition. Sitework occurred during both phases.
