This project developed from the collaboration between Dublin Methodist Hospital and Nationwide Children’s Hospital.

Due to the success of the obstetrics program, additional post partum beds were added affording the opportunity to create a new private room NICU.

Collaborative user meetings, tours of precedent NICU spaces and full scale mock-ups helped to create consensus and design success.

Careful attention to visibility, daylight and individualized room controls allowed for a customized patient experience to support physical development and patient safety.
