This 30,000 SF, two-story medical office building is located on O’Bleness Hospital’s Athens, OH campus. The building was sited to compliment the existing campus and allow for improved connectivity between the medical campus and the surrounding town.  The project makes patient access to outpatient care more convenient.

The ground floor of the building provides new primary care spaces while the second floor is comprised of an osteopathic medicine residency clinic and shelled space for a future clinic. The building is positioned on the site to allow future growth to the south, and the building’s entry and vertical circulation are located to facilitate this expansion. Clinical planning allows for greater visibility between staff work areas and exam rooms and for multiple types of staff interaction desired by the client while maintaining an efficient footprint and regular building structure.

The design team worked with OhioHealth to create an exterior material palette compatible with both the OhioHealth brand standards and the character of the existing O’Bleness Hospital.  This sensibility continued into the articulation of the details, from composite aluminum accents to recessed brick banding, that reference both other campus details and other OhioHealth facilities.
