DesignGroup recently worked with Fairfield Medical Center and a local developer to design a multi-faceted health and wellness facility that serves as a destination not just for patients, but all members of the Lancaster community.

Located on the Allegheny hillside, this highly visible site provides views between the southwest facade and a major highway artery.

This facility provides a combination of a community wellness center along with outpatient services, including a full-service emergency department with imaging and labs, women’s health services and orthopedics. Adjacency considerations included the orthopedics department’s utilization of the wellness area’s pool, indoor running track and exercise space. These varied components provided opportunity through contrast - respite/ active, family/personal and public/private experiences. Through design, the objective was to strike a balance operationally, experientially and aesthetically.
