Unveiling a New Hybrid Model for Healthcare Architecture

Healthcare facilities are breaking away from established models. DesignGroup worked closely with Fairfield Medical Center and its local YMCA to deliver a single facility that combines emergency services, women’s health, rehabilitation — and a public fitness program.

Health systems are seeking new ideas for serving the public — and are searching for the right partners to bring these ideas to life. DesignGroup recently completed a dynamic new building for Fairfield Medical Center’s River Valley Campus  in Lancaster, Ohio, that achieved these goals and more.

Created in partnership with the YMCA, the River Valley Campus serves its community in several ways. It combines traditional medical services, such as an emergency department and outpatient clinic, with a rehabilitation center and public workout facility. This hybrid facility serves many populations at once, and was designed from the beginning with community wellness and education in mind.

A new DesignGroup video takes you inside this versatile new building. It briefly explains Fairfield’s goals for the project and how the YMCA’s executive director inspired Fairfield to think bigger.

DesignGroup’s Elliott Bonnie and Joe Mayer will discuss Fairfield Medical Center’s dynamic new River Valley Campus at the upcoming Healthcare Design Conference. The online event takes place from 4:30-5:30 EST Monday, Nov. 9, 2020. The session will also include Fairfield Medical Center President and CEO Jack Janoso and Howard Long, CEO of the Robert K Fox Family YMCA, both of whom were instrumental in this innovative new approach to community healthcare and wellness.
